Music Camp 2018 "Danny and the Shacks"
August 6th - August 12th, 2018
We are excited to have you join us for a week of creativity, teamwork, and excitement, of learning and growing in God's Word together, all while putting on a musical-theater style production! The story of "Danny and the Shacks" (based on the Old Testament prophet Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) is a faith adventure of four friends who were captured and made to live in Babylon. While there, they had to face challenges and life or death situations where their faith was tested, but they learned that through it all, God can be trusted and will always be with us, even when situations seem impossible.
Dates and Times you Need to Attend:
Before you register we want you to know this IMPORTANT INFORMATION about our week so you can plan accordingly. Music camp only works with full commitment from each and every member of our show. Music Camp is for kids currently in 1st - 9th grades (2017-2018 school year) and runs Monday - Friday, August 6th - 10th from 9 am -12:30 pm. We will also have a dress rehearsal Saturday, August 11th from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., and 2 performances of the show on Sunday, August 12th, at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. Registering for music camp means you agree to attend ALL of these camp days and rehearsals for the FULL TIMES LISTED (barring illness or family emergency). If you cannot keep these commitments, we would ask that you please do not register.
Campers who are selected for the Drama and Choreography Interest Groups (explained in more detail later) also commit to these additional rehearsal times - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (August 7, 8, 9) from 12:30 - 4 p.m. They will have a 30 minute lunch break (packed lunches only - no leaving campus for lunch) and rehearse from 1-4 p.m.
Additional Important Info:
We are only able to take 100 campers. Spots are first come, first served. Registration will close June 30th, or when camp fills up, and for planning purposes we cannot take late registrations or walk-ins. The cost of Music Camp is $50 per camper, and includes a t-shirt, daily snack, listening CD (1 per family), yearbook, and pizza party after the Sunday performances. Once you register, please make sure to pick up the listening CD at church. Campers need to be familiar with the songs before camp begins (since we only have a week to put on the show!
FAQ's About Music Camp
Music Camp is a week long opportunity for kids to work together as a group to learn and perform a musical with a strong message about God. Each camper will play an important role in putting together the performance through large and small group times each day. Most importantly, through their time of singing, devotions, prayer, creativity, fun, and lots of laughter, they will create an amazing show while learning valuable lessons about God.
Here is an example of the day's schedule:
9-10 am Large Group Practice (singing, motions)
10-10:20 Interest Group Devotion/Prayer Time
10:20-11:10 Interest Group Practice/Work
11:10-11:30 SNACK (all)
11:30-12:30 Large Group Practice (blocking on stage)
What is an Interest Group?
Each day during camp the students spend part of their day with their 'interest group." Each group works on a different aspect of the show, and contains about 10-12 students.
Interest Group Choices:
Drama (Current 4th graders and older): This group of campers make up the main "cast" of the show and are chosen through an audition process. They attend extra afternoon rehearsals to prepare for our performances. Auditions will be held June 10th. If you'd like to audition, register, pay, choose drama as your 1st choice for interest group, and then sign up for an audition spot through the Sign-up Genius link you will be sent once your registration has been received. You'll need to pick up the CD at church ASAP so you can learn the parts of the songs you'll need to sing for auditions.
Choreography (Current 4th graders and older): This group of campers learns and performs dance routines to some of the musical numbers in the show.
Percussion: These kids spend the week putting together a special percussion number using different types of percussion instruments
Set Design/Construction: These campers help design, build, paint and decorate elements of our set and stage
Yearbook (Current 4th graders and older): Each day these campers take photos and write short articles about what is happening at Music Camp. They compile them to create a yearbook for each camper to take home at the end of camp.
Culinary Arts (Snack!): These kitchen geniuses keep our campers fed and happy by creating delicious snacks for the week of camp.
Costumes/Props: This creative crew make us all look good on stage by helping make costume pieces and props for the show.
Sign Language: These campers learn the beautiful art of sign language and perform two songs from the show in sign.
Stage Crew: This small interest group is for a select group of kids who want to participate in Music Camp from "behind the scenes." They WILL NOT appear in the show, rather, they will help move props and scenery on and off stage, as well as help with other back stage tasks. Please speak to one of us directly if you think this is a good fit for your child.
We look forward to a fun and exciting week learning how to trust God in all situations. We can't wait to share this awesome experience with your amazing kids! Please feel free to contact us at any time with questions or concerns!

BABYLON Summer Fun Camp 2018
August 6th - August 10th, 2018
What is Summer Fun Camp?
Well, we're glad you asked! Summer Fun Camp is for current 4 year olds through 2nd graders (2017-2018 school year). It has also been called VBS - Vacation Bible School - and while it is during summer vacation, and we do learn a lot about God through His word, the Bible, it is NOTHING like school (we hope!) Summer Fun Camp is a week long adventure into Babylon with our hero, Daniel. We will learn how God is always with us, even in the hardest of times. We will grow closer to one another and to God as we hang out with our "Tribe" all week, playing games, singing, dancing, doing crafts, eating yummy snacks, and exploring the Babylonian Marketplace. Don't miss this exciting week of camp, and invite all your friends!
Our camp adventure runs Monday through Friday, August 6th - 10th from 9:15 - 12:15 p.m. and costs $40 per camper, which includes a tribe bandanna, daily snacks, listening CD, take-home projects and crafts, Bible Buddies, and more!
We will have a family celebration (instead of a closing program, this will be more like a party, where Mom and Dad and friends can experience some of Babylon's songs, meet Daniel, and have food and fellowship) probably on Thursday evening of camp week (more details to follow). We're so excited to go on this adventure with your child(ren).
Please note: Music Camp is also available the same week for kids ages 1st grade through 9th grade...1st and 2nd graders may choose EITHER Summer Fun Camp or Music Camp, depending on their interest.
